Dragon Boat Festival Holiday ( Three Days Weekend) with the Host Families

During the three-day weekend, students will share photos with illustrations to provide us a sneak peek of their weekend with their host families. Below are screenshots of their posts in our group chat. We will keep adding screenshots throughout this long weekend!

    Weekends with host families bring the most authentic learning about cuture, particularly during the Dragon Boat festivals. This journey is so exciting to watch!! I've loved seeing how much you are all treasuring this experience.

    What an array of weekend experiences- the sights and sounds, the latitudes and attitudes, the connections, the comparisons and contrasts- all with your besties from Fuhsing. Great idea (a nice change of pace) to share the weekend with photos and captions.

June 3, 2024 Our arrival day was a very busy and exciting day full of sightseeing and new adventures! We arrived at around 5 am in Taipei. In customs we saw the one and only “Linus Tech Tips” from youtube (15.8M subs), which was pretty awesome. Then we navigated through a maze of metro stations, eventually ending up at our hotel to drop off our luggage. The streets were full of surprises! I even saw this kid who I went to school with in lower school, and William called his name and he turned! So it was him! What a coincidence. The main form of transportation we have been using today is the metro station, and something we immediately noticed was how clean and quiet the station was compared to the metro in LA. The view we saw the moment we stepped outside the metro was unforgettable. Moped is a very popular form of transportation here! Visit National Palace Museum, Formosan Aborigines Museum, and Meet Fuhsing Students!

June 4, 2024    Today started off with a phone call at 7:08 AM. Not 7:07, not 7:09. We were meant to wake up at 6:30 AM, but our hotel-phone-alarm clock did not work out! Albeit a bit delayed, we headed downstairs to breakfast nonetheless. Then we served ourselves some breakfast…Breakfast?? More like BreakFEAST (Kratter 2024). From eggs to bamboo soup to steamed dumplings to salted duck eggs to “berry vinegar,” W.O.W! Stomachs full, we boarded our private bus and drove toward the National Palace Museum. It was almost as beautiful as the breakfast: The museum was made of several large traditional, palace-styled buildings, and an orange and cyan-tiled, concave roof. But, the inside was sleek and chic and definitely not bleak! Surrounding the buildings were old-growth trees and tidy gardens, almost in a French-style.
